I made this a separate page, and I will try to explain my best about the food choices. What I also want to say is that many say that mer-shifters are going to have to quit normal foods. I just think that you need to incorporate the mermaid diet into yours, because you're not 100% mermaid. A part of you is human, so there's a great chance you won't give up human food.

**Fun fact: Mermaids in general have similar food choices! Easy, isn't it??

Tropical

As a tropical mermaid, you are probably going to be residing either near islands or coastline cities/towns. Truth is, the diet isn't going to be too fishy, as you will incorporate more fruit and maybe normal foods into your diet. So it's basically fruit, some vegetables, fish, seafood, and seaweed.

Open Ocean

These mers have the same diet as the Tropical mers as they both will tend to stop by somewhere. Fruit, fish, and seaweed are common among the diet, so there's really no difference, but one thing that keeps 'em apart is that Open Ocean mers need lots more energy to swim long distances.

Freshwater

Freshwater foods are easily edible. If you are not just staying in a lake (this could apply to Kelp Forest, too as a minor), you can visit rivers and catch fresh fish there.

I WILL ADD MORE

Artic

Just like the Open Ocean, you need to keep up with your diet to not only swim better in long and freezing distances but to keep your blood flowing and keep warm. Also, just like Freshwater, you should find delicious fish near cold coastlines where fishermen usually fish, and yes I know that's extremely risky, but think about all the good food they're having for themselves.

I MIGHT HAVE TO EDIT THIS ONE, TOO
