If you decide to visit an island, for example, beware of certain popular tourist locations. Research any other isolated islands or private parts of the location. Keep out of view of people!

P-Shifting (3-12 months) ** This is just a rough estimate, same goes for all stages

Here are some great shifting methods from Pandora's Isle, so far the best! :: http://pandorasisle.webs.com/physical-shifting ( YOU NEED AN ACCOUNT TO SEE THIS, OR MAYBE I WILL CHOOSE A DIFF. LINK)

After many months of M-shifting, your mind should click. By that I mean you are tired of just imagining of swimming through the water with an imaginary tail. Here are the requirements for P-shifting:

  • Through your M-shifting, you have specifically visualized how your body will change. Any messups and you would either have to start all over, wait before P-shifting, or go to a doctor (Hope not!!!).

  • You are healthy and well-hydrated enough to shift.

  • You have a room where you can shift in peace for about 1-2 hours.

  • IMPORTANT! YOU NEED TO BE WET AS YOU P-SHIFT. IT WILL MAKE THE PROCESS MUCH MORE EASIER!

You've gotten to this point, but the question is: Where am I going to shift and when? Like I've stated, you need to have a place where nobody will bother you. You have to remind yourself that family members/friends/pets may barge in and - well, you can imagine that.

I'm only in F-shifting for now, but I've figured you can start P-shifting during nighttime. When everyone's asleep, this is the best time, plus there will also be no sunlight and outside noises bothering you... unless you have those obnoxious neighbors and music-blasting cars passing by then you need to pick a time according to you.

If it's during the day, then this will prove risky, 'cause your parents will call your name, check up on you, etc. Unless you live alone, are at a friend's house, or your family is out of the house, than P-shifting it is!

HOW LONG SHOULD MY P-SHIFT TAKE? - Your P-shift should take about 1 hour in the first few tries, I've heard some mer-shifters gain results during that time period. After many trials (including M-flares, A-shifting, Phantom-shifts, spells, meditations, etc.), the time to shift should decrease.

Side Effects - Have you heard of a famous mermaid named KissingMidnight? If not, look her up (she has an account on 43things). As stated by KM (I'm going to abbreviate), she has felt very specific side effects ranging from mental unbalance such as major depression and physical effects such as sore muscles during shifting. She has posted a picture of her tail on 43things, so I think you'll get a good idea of what to expect. By the way, even I have doubts about her tail, but that's another matter!

Physical Side Effects include:

  • Skin changing to the color of your preferred tail

  • Peeling skin in the legs, even the soft soles of your feet

  • Small scales (I've seen pics of girls who claimed to have scales forming on their feet and knees. Even seeing them, I still can't agree with them, so make sure not to confuse scales with dry or chipped skin.)

  • Itching

  • Longer nails if you were growing them longer

  • I just want to write this down, but maybe small layers of skin-webbing between your fingers or toes.

Mental Side Effects include:

  • Moderate to Severe Depression (Seriously, be careful if you are already or experience this condition in the future)

  • Strong yearning for the ocean or any other body of water

  • Slowly drifting away from family, like staying quiet at times, but not completely

  • Not specific to this stage, but the desire to help others if showing signs

  • A desire to reside by the ocean, like you want to live in Spain, Hawaii, Fiji, etc.

  • Mood swings, ranging from happiness to extreme sadness and that you want to leave your former home.
